Tater
At just 14 months old, Tater lost one of his back legs early in life. Despite everything, he learned to hop, run, play, and love with all the joy of any puppy. But a heartbreaking accident turned his world upside down once again - when the family's children accidentally opened the door, Tater darted outside, straight into a field where the horses were running. In an instant, one of his front legs was trampled.
The devastation was immediate, suffering a serious fracture of his radius and ulna.
Tater's family runs a local 501(c)(3) horse rescue, saving horses from kill pens across the U.S. They give everything they have to animals in need, but recent hardships and injuries left them at a financial roadblock. We were contacted by a good samaritan to help this sweet boy who's injury called for a costly $3000 reconstructive surgery his family is struggling to finance. With his young age and rapidly growing bones, time was of the essence to save 1 of 3 legs he has left. Otherwise, the more affordable amputation would be the only option, leaving him with only 2 legs.
Teaming up with the kind-hearted samaritan, and Tater's generous friends and family, we were able to rally enough funds in just a few days for his leg saving procedure - despite some calcification, his bones were able to be re-broken and re-aligned without the use of a plate & pins - allowing Tater to continue to thrive on his three unstoppable legs.
THANK YOU to everyone who donated for Tater's surgery... You just empowered him to beat the odds.
