**Warning: This story contains descriptions and graphic images of severe neglect and injury.

Lily's story is a heartbreaking one on the brink of survival. She was believed to be hit by a car and left to suffer alone. Her injuries were so severe that she was found with one of her paws beside her - completely detached from necrosis & infection while another was badly injured. Both injuries were infested with maggots, she was covered in ticks and suffering from tick fever, was dangerously anemic from blood loss, and was hanging on through unimaginable pain.

Thanks to Compassion Kind, she was rescued and is receiving the care she needs. Despite everything she endured, Lily has not stopped being gentle & still greets people with trust and kindness.

The original plan was to perform an emergency amputation, but Lily was simply too weak to survive anesthesia. Instead, veterinarians made the difficult decision to stabilize her, remove the exposed bone, treat her infections, manage her pain, and give her body a chance to fight.

For 10 long days, Lily remained hospitalized receiving intensive around-the-clock care. Every day was uncertain, but she refused to give up.

Today, she is finally strong enough to leave the hospital while healing up for the major amputation surgery she still desperately needs. That surgery will finally give her the chance to live a life free from constant pain.

"Her journey is far from over, but she is alive because people cared."

Lily's amputation is estimated to cost $1400-1800.  We were able to contribute $400 to her care, so together we still need help to get her there.

Every donation - no matter the size - brings Lily one step closer to the pain free future she deserves.

Lily is also searching for her forever home. If you're interested in showering her with eternal love, contact Compassion Kind to adopt her!
