At less than a year old, she has already endured more than any pup should and still can't wipe off her sunshine smile or stop her wagging tail.

Found as a stray and brought to safety, her owners were located & reclaimed her, but when asked to seek treatment for her severely damaged front leg, they chose to surrender her instead.

Over the past several months, Luna has seen multiple veterinarians and orthopedic specialists. Compassion Kind sought five different consultations, because amputation is never a light decision and her rescuers wanted to ensure that it is in fact the best choice for her.

Sadly, every specialist agreed: the nerve damage is permanent and amputation is her best option.

As Luna has grown, her leg has become more of a burden than a benefit. She trips over it, falls while running and playing, and constantly develops cuts, sores, and painful rashes from dragging it. Instead of helping her, it's been holding her back.

On July 27, Luna will undergo the amputation that will finally give her the chance to run, play, and explore without pain.

We were able to donate $400 toward Luna's surgery at an expected cost around $1,000.

On the other hand, the best part about her story is that she already has her forever family waiting for her! Once she's recovered, her adoption can be officially finalized giving this sweet girl the happy ending she deserves.
